“Where can I take your classes?” Has been one of my most asked questions the last few years “Where did you go?” Truth is I’ve been everywhere. Physically. Spiritually. Mentally.
It’s taken me months if not years to untangle the threads that wove this constant transformation together of where I am today. Like most transformations, it runs deep and is continuous.
After much travelling, following my heart, releasing elements of my life that were not elevating, including my own neurosis. I can reflect and say I haven’t been the best teacher these last few years.
I haven’t been present.
When I first qualified to teach 11 years ago almost to the day. I was teaching in spas, gyms, luxury hotels, free classes at community centres. I had so much work I would love sharing it out with other yoga teachers. I was even planning my own holistic centre with an initiative to get free meditation and yoga into community centres, schools and government establishments. I wanted to change the world.
Behind all of this though, I also doubted myself. Wanting to change the world started to seem pretty naive. And overwhelming. Throw a few ‘life’ challenges into the mix and I realised these doubts were feeding on themselves like a progressive disease. I tugged on them a little and off down the rabbit hole I went…and out of the other side with a better sense of Self.
Thankfully, today I find myself back on that purposeful path doing exactly all the things I previously only dreamt of and now making newer more radical goals. Taking yoga & healing to a whole new level. Taking it to people, places and institutions it has never been able to reach.
Thank you to my wonderful teacher (@gurmukh108 on Instagram), for instigating a milestone in work today. It reinforced the power of 11/11. A number representing synchronicity and being in flow for opportunities where you are able to step into your highest potential.
